The climate Action Network Uganda (CAN-U) was established in 2009 and hosted by Oxfam GB in Uganda then. CAN-U is a civil society network comprising of NGOs, academia, private sector, and religious institutions. CAN-U is a country chapter of the CAN International global network. CAN-U is registered with the NGO board as a national network.
It is governed by the General Assembly which oversees the Executive Committee that is responsible for managing the secretariat comprised of technical staff. The secretariat is hosted by the Ecological Christian Organization (ECO). Climate Action Network Uganda is a network based organization composed of Civil Society, Academia and private sector, working on climate change issues at national, continental and global level.
CAN Uganda is affiliated to CAN East Africa, CAN Africa and CAN International.
CAN Uganda works with the following partners who include: Oxfam in Uganda, World Resources Institute (WRI), CARITAS, IUCN, Dan Church Aid and Action Aid Uganda.
CAN Uganda was established in 2009 as a loose network to advocate for pro-poor climate change policy and laws in Uganda.
An organization downloads a form from the CAN Uganda website, fills in the required information, pays the subscription and membership fees and submits both the filled form and bank slips to the CAN Uganda secretariat.
